500,000 Ethiopian migrants, mostly women, are in the process of being deployed to Saudi Arabia to join the labor force as domestic workers. The approach is aimed at facilitating an orderly migration process. Priorities were given to undergraduate and graduate students who have been attending training classes in housekeeping and other job skills as a prerequisite to the arrangement. The Ethiopian government has established an agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but a press release explaining the details from the Ethiopia Disaster Risk Management Commission is still pending. The EDRMC is known for its role in handling repatriations of Ethiopian migrants mostly returning from KSA, and Lebanon for many years now.

Master Wendimagegnehu Kassu Dagnahun, aka Master W, was presented with an Official Citation of honor by Senator Benjamin Brooks, of Baltimore County, Legislative District 10, on May 20th, 2023 for his long-term commitment to and highly revered master of the art of Taekwondo as well as his training of hak saengs (students) in this sport.
Master W has a heap of accolades and medals for his superior talent in the art of Taekwondo. His superior mastery of Art is a fact that people across the world have confirmed. Although Master W has been humble and has set a new goal to mastering the next level of his craft it is necessary to take a beat and help him celebrate his accomplishments thus far. To him one of his greatest accomplishments is establishing a family with his wife and two children. His passion and love for the art form have afforded him a journey to many countries where he has consistently displayed his abilities of sportsmanship, discipline, endurance, and mentorship representing his country of origin, Ethiopia.
At this year’s SEED Foundation Event, held on May 28th, 2023, the topic of substance abuse, particularly the use of clandestinely produced synthetic opioid use among youth took center stage. Dr. Lishan Kassa, a medical professional who was being honored at the event for many of her pro-bono services in the community that includes mental health care, medical services, and drug rehabilitation services used the platform to share her concerns as a frontline care provider about how the opioid crisis is impacting the youth in the DMV (Washington D.C. metro area MD/VA). She invited Ms. Luladey Kinfe-Michael, a Behavioral health nurse and Youth Advocate to the podium.
For the past several years multi-regional ethnic conflicts throughout Ethiopia have been widespread in areas deemed inaccessible, and not on the beaten path. To a certain extent allowed the crisis to remain hidden under the EPRDF (Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front) a majority TPLF (Tigray Peoples Liberation Front) party. The EPRDF administration first introduced Ethnic Federalism to the country in the early 90s when they first rose to power. Since then, a people who had once seen themselves as a nation with all the complexities of any African nation were conditioned to adopt a different ideology and governance system that endorsed regional states to operate as autonomous nations and exercise the right to secede using article 39 of the constitution as they will.
